Police Brutality

When people hear Police Brutality they automatically think black lives matter or an African American man dying due to the beating of a police officer. YES, we think this but there are other people who do suffer from this. Whether it's male or female of any race it happens all over. We are just so used to hearing it happen about African American people. For the past two years police brutality has become more frequently known. The media broadcast it. How could anyone be okay with allowing police officers to do this to our people. No matter what they look like nobody deserves to be dead or in critical condition. There is never a time where this is allowed. Some may disagree with me but it is just what I feel. Why is it that officers get off the hook so easily? There is always a new story going on about police taking situations to far and sadly get away with it just because they can.
Although this topic has been going on for years this will always be a tough topic. this generation and sick and we need to do something about it. Police brutality takes place all over the world and never is it good for this to happen to anyone ever in life.

Global Warming

Global warming is the increase of the overall temperature of the Earth due to the greenhouse gases. The Earths temperature is rising rapidly due to pollution, deforestation and fossil fuels. During this century we are part of the worst global warming since the last 400 years. According to biologicaldiversity.org, "our planet is now in the midst of its sixth mass extinction of plants and animals." We are losing animals approximately between 1,000 to 10,000 times faster than the natural extinction rate, according to the World Wide Fund for Nature. Our stray animals that are in zoos will pretty soon not be alive due to the damage we are doing to the Earth.
Global Warming focuses on the war topic of loss. On this Earth if we keep doing the same things that we are doing now to destroy it we are going to destroy it for good and lose everything we have.
Scientists speculate that by the year 2100 half of the world's plant and animal species will be extinct due to human actions. Animals will be gone, people will be gone, plants will be gone. Everything we know and love on this planet Earth will be gone. Merely being inhabitants of this planet we owe it to ourselves, the future generations, and the other lives that call this planet home to step up and help change the planet before its too late. When our kids grow up they are going to suffer more than anybody and it just going to keep getting worse and worse as time continues to go on. We are going to lose everything and it is sad to even think about.
War does not make anything any better. "The environment has long been a silent casualty of war and armed conflict. From the contamination of land and the destruction of forests to the plunder of natural resources and the collapse of management systems, the environmental consequences of war are often widespread and devastating," said Ban in a statement for the UN's International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict in 2014. Many seem to forget about the environment during war, even though it suffers the most casualties.

Venezuela Rising

Venezuela Rising. In this short film many conflicts are being shown. The number one conflicts are that minorities have no say in what the government does. Nobody cares about what they say. Also, everyday goods are being over priced so that only the rich can afford them. The idea of isolation and loss are portrayed throughout this film. Isolation because the minorities and the kids who are protesting have no control over what the government is doing to them and they can not control whats going on. The idea of loss is portrayed because protesters are being killed left and right and families are devastated by the loss of their loved ones. people are losing themselves as well because they have nothing to look forward to. Their "president" (I emphasized president because the election was rigged and hes doing a horrible job) is not doing much to help the poor nor does he care. His motorcycle gang (Collectivos) is taking everyone out without a care in the world. As long as he reigns on top he does not care about what goes on around him which is horrible. The president should try to make living a little easier for everyone but that's not the case, things are more difficult and people are fighting to stay above water. Sorry for jumping around but, back to the idea of isolation. The general population is being isolated from everything. they have nothing to look forward to because it is all gone. They have been isolated from the country in a way because nobody pays them attention. The Collectivos are just hired by the government and if they were in the same position as the other they would see what they are doing is so wrong. Honestly the President of Venezuela should get a taste of his own medicine and see how it feels. such a beautiful country going to waste.

Hero's Journey

While reading the Bunker Diary Linus takes on the Hero's Journey. In the beginning Linus sees an old man who portrays to be blind and helpless. He needs help trying to load things in his van but his arm is supposedly broken and he can't lift anything. The old man just simply lures him into getting into the back of his truck and that is when the old man strikes Linus. Now, he is captured. This is where Linus reaches part two. The road of trials. Linus tries to make escape plans to get out of this basement or wherever he is because he is not sure. Him and all  the other people who have been captured put their minds together to try to figure something out. Linus is the only one who tries to go through with any plan no one really believes in Linus's plan to escape. The only person Linus really has that is willing to help him is Jenny. She's 9 years old and wants to escape as well. After about a month in this basement they are finally getting full fledged meals and are starting to look like themselves again after only eating about a slice of bread. The older people that are down there with him look up to him for his bravery and him trying to escape. Linus never returned home. He stayed in the bunker until he and everybody else died. the only thing is Linus was the last to die due to starvation. He tried everything to stay alive but the man who captured him stopped sending food down and stopped acknowledging him and left him to die by his lonesome. Therefore Linus did not complete the Hero's Journey but he did try to stay alive and complete it by fighting all the way to the very end.

Theme, Topic, Subject

The point if this book is to basically explain how you never know where life is going to take you. One minute you think you're on the right track and then the next moment your life is taking a turn  for the worse. This is what Linus and all the others are experiencing. one day they are living their everyday life and just minutes later they are being lured by a man they never met.
Life sometimes takes a turn for the worse and you have to deal with it. The characters in the book do not know how to cope with it. In reality who would be able to cope with being abducted. they have no family anymore. The Bunker just contains them six. they are all each other have. How could one man be so evil and desperate to take humans away from what they have going for them. Life is like one crazy roller coaster but on this ride you don't know what is going to come next and you don't know how you're going to react. Anja one the characters is going through it the worst and she is not making it any better for her or the people around her. Linus is actually trying to make things comfortable for everyone living there. These characters probably would of never thought his would actually happen to them. what are the chances of being abducted. A seventy year old man being abducted. This just might all be a sham for their money.
Kevin Brooks, the author of this book got his inspiration to write child thrillers by his own fascination of reading adult thrillers. His stories don't relate to his life but they do have an impact on his life because this is what kind of stories he enjoys writing.

The Archetypes from the Bunker Diary

While reading The Bunker Diary there are multiple Archetypes. Linus (the main character) has been kidnapped by his "villain" who he refers to as the blind man. Nobody knows his real name. So far, Linus and 4 others are stuck in this bunker where there is no light. Linus was the first one to be kidnapped and then after he spent 3 days in this bunker, a 9 year old girl named Jenny gets kidnapped. Jenny becomes Linus's "sidekick". They are both in this under ground room with no food, or drinks. Jenny and Linus find ways to get through the days with each other. They are now all each other have. After a week that Linus has been there, another girl Anja gets dropped down by the lift that brings all the new people he captured down into the bunker. She's the "Damsel in Distress". She think she is going to get out soon but little does she know no one knows when they are leaving or if they are actually going to leave. Anja spends her days moping in her own personal cell while Linus and Jenny think of new items to ask the blind man for. example: food, water, tooth brushes, tooth paste, bed sheets etc. Then there is the "Gentle Giant" his name is Fred. Linus says that Fred has to be at least six foot four or taller. Fred is gentle but he is also a drug addict. Fred suffers from not having his heroin so he stays in bed for a few days just like Anja. So it's still Jenny and Linus basically because the other two feel like they are not going to be able to live under these conditions. There is also William Bird. He is just the drunk in the story so far he got dropped down from the lift and everybody comes out there room to look at him laying on the lift smelling like booze.
